thoughts on Kanye…

Kanye’s new album is not easy listen to, in my opinion. The tracks are too long and not interesting enough to keep my attention. While I think his album is a huge flop, I do think it is great for hip hop, the features alone warrant applause. Kanye has a duality to him that is pretty hard to explain when just speaking about him, but there is a very easy way to break it down. The good side of Kanye signs Consequence, Common, John Legend, and Pusha T and does something for hip hop that no one else is doing (within the mainstream) on the flip side he spawns something like Kid Cudi. In listening to Cudi’s latest album you hear all of what is wrong about Kanye, the off key singing for one. Some people can perform some great off key singing, but I would compare Kanye and Cudi’s singing to say Connor Oberst, and they all ultimately fail.

But hey, if you love Kanye’s record go ahead and love it, I really don’t care. I just think that coming back to this music in 10 years will you wonder what you found interesting about it at all. Kanye’s album is not terrible, but it’s not the return of Christ either (as some of these so called critics, reviewers and music experts would have you believe). Just some food for thought, goodnight tumblr.
